Electric hot water heaters can be simple when you’re ready for it. Knowing the procedure for replacement and the things you’ll need to do in order to replace the current heater can make it easier.
Check first the yellow label of your tank. It will have energy ratings on the label. When purchasing a new tank, ensure you choose the one that is compatible with these specifications and will not increase the wear on your home’s electrical with one with high usage.
After that, make sure you check your residence’s water pressure. It can be accomplished by fixing a gauge for pressure to an outside spigot. If the PSI is greater than 80, then an additional reduction in pressure could have to be included.
When you have removed the tank from the wall, be sure you have the power turned off. Be sure to use the volt tester to make sure that there is no electricity running in case of a mishap, so may lead to one striking themselves. If the cables aren’t color-coded, tape them to allow yourself to remember how the cables were attached.
Let the water be cool before removing the water completely.
